Charles Darwin's book about his 5-year journey aboard the HMS beagle remains one of the great narratives of adventure and discovery of the age.
in 1836, Darwin returned to England with thousands of specimens of insects, birds, plants, minerals, fossils, spiders, fungi, and orchids - and profoundly changed scientific thought forever after.
Many of Darwin's specimens were stored and displayed in cabinets like this one.

In 2013, Mia Gallison and Saxton Freymann, the nice people at EEBOO, asked me to design a paper airplane kit that could be assembled like the old balsa wood airplanes. After a lot of sketching, cutting, folding, dozens of prototypes, trial flights, crashes, and fine tuning, we finally had our airplanes - the Jefferson Flyer! It's named after the Jefferson nickel weight in the nose. The planes are easy to assemble, fly really well, and are robust enough for lots of flights and landings.
